Whistler

Whistler Blackcomb has been named one of Canada’s best employers for young people as chosen by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and also picked up several conservationist awards.

Resort officials said the resort has a number of programs that led to the award for young employees including training, mentorship opportunities, employee share ownership, staff housing options and easy access to management.

Whistler was named the 2012 BC Hydro Power Smart Excellence Award winner for its “best in class approach to strategic energy management and an ongoing commitment to energy conservation.”

“Environmental stewardship is part of our corporate culture,” says Dave Brownlie, President and COO. “Our company has an annual target of five percent energy reduction including electricity, natural gas and fuel for vehicles. Over the past five years, in partnership with BC Hydro, Whistler Blackcomb has saved 1.5 million kWh or four percent of the company’s overall energy consumption.”

Finally, Whistler has been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers, also by Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

The British Columbia resort plans to open for the season Nov. 22, 2012.
