Werner Joins SnoCountry Ski Areas Association As Sales Representative
Rob Werner, whose career has spanned the snow sports industry, film production, cable, and new media, has been named Advertising Representative for the West and Midwest regions for SnoCountry Ski Areas Association.
Werner is an experienced sales and marketing representative with an extensive background in production and business development. He most recently served as Director of Advertising Sales for Vail Resorts’ Mountain News for its OnTheSnow website and mobile products.
“Rob is well-known and respected throughout the ski and snowboard industry and we are very excited he is joining the team at SnoCountry Ski Areas Association,” said SnoCountry President Tom Cottrill. “Rob’s experience will provide a significant benefit to our member resorts as they utilize our radio and television networks, Internet and email products to complement their marketing and advertising programs.”
Werner will represent SnoCountry in sales of Internet advertising for SnoCountry.com, which topped one million unique visitors last winter (a 50 percent increase year-over-year); SnoNews e-Newsletter; SnoCountry Mountain Reports radio network; The Skiing Weatherman TV syndication. Rob joins Rob Chandler, SnoCountry’s Radio Affiliate and Resort Relations Director, who will focus on the Northeast and Southeast regions. Werner and Chandler will also work with resorts outside of New England to roll out a new member benefit program.

Werner began his career on the production side of the film industry, working on movies such as “The Color of Money”, “Ferris Buehler’s Day Off”, “Child’s Play”, and National Lampoon’s “Christmas Vacation” in both Chicago and Los Angeles.
He opened his own production company in San Rafael, Calif., producing commercials, presentations, and new media for clients including Apple, WebMD, Hewlett Packard, Hyatt hotels, and others.
He then decided to go into media sales where he worked with Comcast Spotlight in cable advertising before joining Mountain News. in 2007. He resigned his position with Mountain News this spring. Werner is a graduate of Michigan State University.
