U.S. Skiing’s Tom Kelly To Become Hall Of Fame Chair
Tom Kelly, the long-time vice president of communications of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and the U.S. Ski Team, will take over as Chairman of the Board of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in the spring of 2014.
Kelly will succeed Bernie Weichsel and the pair will co-chair the board for the rest of 2013 and 2014 until Kelly takes over. Kelly has been a member of the board since 1998.
“We are very excited that Tom Kelly has agreed to bring his considerable leadership skills and experience in the world of skiing to the service of the national Hall of Fame this way,” Weichsel said.
Kelly’s ski career began in 1977 as public relations director for the Telemark Lodge in Cable, Wisc., home of the classic Berkebeiner Nordic skiing race. He ran American Berkebeiner Nordic, a company that organized snow adventure tours.
Kelly joined USSA first as assistant Nordic director in 1986 and, two years later, was named Vice President of Communications.
