Northstar Travel Media, a business-to-business information company based in Secaucus, N.J., has acquired Mountain Travel Symposium (MTS), the annual business exchange conference and forum that concludes today in Breckenridge, Colo. This year’s 39th annual event attracted nearly 1,200 travel professionals from all over the world.
MTS focuses on mountain regions domestically and internationally, along with the changing trends in marketing, distribution and technology. The seven-day symposium provides travel industry executives the opportunity to meet one-to-one at targeted exchange sessions and at various networking functions.
It is the largest and longest-running annual gathering of travel professionals promoting business connections for mountain destinations across the globe. Representatives from mountain resort businesses have gathered at MTS each spring for almost 40 years.
Northstar Travel Media LLC is a provider of news, information and data for the travel, meetings and hospitality industries and parent of brands including Travel Weekly, Travel Weekly China, Travel Weekly Asia, Business Travel News, Travel Procurement, PhoCusWright, Meetings & Conventions, M&C China, Successful Meetings, Meeting News, Incentive, TravelAge West, Family Getaways, Explorer, Your Travel Insider, Luxury Cruise News and Web in Travel.
Northstar Travel Media, as part of the transaction, has entered into a management services agreement with Michael J. Pierson, Inc. to continue to produce the Mountain Travel Symposium in 2015 and 2016.
“Mountain Travel Symposium was just a small event when it launched. The growth of the event has been extraordinary, and with Northstar’s resources behind us, I’m confident that growth will continue,” Pierson said Wednesday. The next event is scheduled for spring, 2015 at the Fairmont in Whistler, BC.
“The addition of Mountain Travel Symposium is an exciting opportunity for our company,” said Thomas Kemp, chairman and CEO of Northstar Travel Media. “We have been rapidly growing our portfolio of high-quality face-to-face events serving the global travel industry. The addition of MTS, following our recent acquisition of Asia-based Web in Travel, strengthens our commitment to serving our core markets with unique and informative events.”
