Michael J. Pierson, Inc. Takes Over Sole Ownership of Mountain Travel Symposium

Michael J. Pierson

The largest annual gathering of mountain travel professionals in North America– the Mountain Travel Symposium – has announced that Michael J. Pierson, Inc. has taken over sole ownership of MTS.

Pierson bought the interest held by Ralf Garrison, MTS founder and co-partner in Resort Industry Marketing (RIM), the organization responsible for producing MTS each spring.

“Ralf has been involved since the beginning, recognized the potential and set the stage for what MTS is today,” Pierson said. Garrison runs two travel companies – the Mountain Travel Research Program (MTRiP) and its sister program VTRIP.

MTS began with the Forum and then the Trade and Group Exchanges were added. The most recent innovation has been the Executive Summit. Annual attendance has grown from 400 in 1996 to 1,100 the past three years.

The 38th Mountain Travel Symposium will be held at Snowmass, Colo. April 7-13, 2013. Early registration begins in November.
