Erik Schlopy has been named an assistant coach on the U.S. Ski Team’s alpine technical staff. He has joined the team for training in New Zealand.

The success of this spring’s Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships at Squaw Valley resort in California that brought thousands of spectators to the slopes has led to a return engagement March 19-23, 2014.

She’s 17 years old and the youngest woman in 28 years to win a gold medal in the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships. Mikaela Shiffrin, from Eagle-Vail, Colo., came from behind after her first run to win the gold medal.
