A-Mazing Tina Maze Mines More Gold At Worlds In Alpine Combined; Spoils Austrian Party

American Lindsey Vonn was seventh in the downhill portion of the women’s Alpine Combined event but straddled a gate atop the slalom course and did not finish.

2014 Olympics: USA's Shiffrin Fifth In Rainy GS; Slovenia's Maze Takes Gold

ROSA KHUTOR, Russia (Feb. 18) – Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) skied to fifth Tuesday during her first-ever Olympic appearance at the women’s giant slalom of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games.

Heavy rain pelted the 18-year-old World Champion during her second run, but she reigned in a world-class performance to land in the top five behind gold winner Tina Maze of Slovenia. Shiffrin, a slalom specialist, goes for a medal in that discipline Friday.

Slovenian Tina Maze Wins Aspen World Cup GS; Shiffrin Solid, Vonn Returns

Slovenia’s Tina Maze won her second consecutive giant slalom of the season as the Winternationals at Aspen, Colo. jumped off Saturday. American Lindsey Vonn returned to the race course after a 3-day hospitalization last week and finished 21st.
