Some 50,000 New Englanders are expected to pass through the Boston.com Ski & Snowboard Expo hall this weekend at the Seaport World Trade Center- and for good reason - making winter ski and snowboard plans, finding deals on family vacation packages, lift tickets, travel and ski/snowboard gear – much at Expo-only specials.

Ski and snowboard areas across the Northeast are gearing up with special deals for those who want to learn this winter. Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month in January is a time when the snow sports industry offers attractive and affordable beginner programs for children and adults who can learn from a pro.

Ski Maine and the Ski Museum of Maine will host their Annual Ski Season Launch Party Nov. 20 at the Morong Auto Dealership of Falmouth.

Nirvana continues for skiers and riders up and down the east coast as the seemingly never-ending winter forges on toward a supposed conclusion. The irony is that most resorts will have ample snow when they quiet their lifts for the season.

Now in its sixth year, the Maine Ski Heritage Classic will ring nostalgic on Saturday (Feb. 16) at Sugarloaf as attendees can learn about the past while enjoying the conditions of the present. 

“Come up and ski.” Unfortunately, those words that Jeff Kuller used to end many interviews will no longer be heard.
