While this winter’s great season is still underway at a few resorts across the upper Midwest, now is the time to be thinking about your 2014/15 season pass. Some Heartland ski areas are currently offering their best prices of the year for a limited time. Many of these price incentives end this month.
Olympian Louie Vito is heading to Ohio’s Mad River Mountain, Saturday, Dec. 28, for his annual rail jam, and Nick Goepper, who just made the first U. S. Olympic slopestyle skiing team, will be at Indiana’s Perfect North Slopes for a rail jam Thursday, Dec. 26.
In a state known more for basketball, corn fields and race cars, it’s a bit of a surprise to find a couple of ski areas in southern Indiana catering to not only Hoosier snow sports enthusiasts but Kentucky and Tennessee as well.

Many ski resorts across the Midwest were able to open this past weekend, even as far south as southern Indiana where Perfect North Slopes was open.
Ohio’s Mad River Mountain, home hill to Olympian Louie Vito, will be hosting the Heartland’s first rail jam Nov. 4. Last year’s event was a huge hit, and over 400 people have already confirmed on MRM’s Facebook page they will be there for the “throw down.” The ski area’s annual Ski Patrol Ski Swap will be taking place inside the lodge.
