Olympic champion Hannah Kearney from Norwich, Vt., capped her illustrious World Cup career with a storybook finish, winning the season finale dual moguls for her 46th career victory. Kearney matched the record held since 1997 by fellow American Olympic champion Donna Weinbrecht. She also walked away with both the FIS Freestyle World Cup moguls and overall crystal globes.
Olympic champion Hannah Kearney from Norwich, Vt. stepped it up another notch, taking gold in dual moguls in a thrilling finals matchup with Canadian Justine Dufour-Lapointe. It was Kearney's eighth career World Championships medal, the most ever of any freestyle skier.
The relentless lineup of eastern storms, that attacked the region in alphabetical order, will provide skiers and riders with conditions and length of season that could rival last winter. In a number of resorts, the additional snow cover will act as insurance for some key events that are on the January schedule.
The United States freestyle ski team couldn’t wait for mogul skier Hannah Kearney to get healthy and re-join the team on the World Cup tour. She did last Thursday (Jan. 17), and didn’t disappoint at Whiteface Mountain, N.Y. 10 miles from Lake Placid.
