Following the conclusion of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Council Meetings, the 2019-20 competition calendar for all ski and snowboard sports that fall under the jurisdiction of FIS has been announced. For U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the Olympic National Governing Body (NGB) of ski and snowboard sports in America, this means that the following event dates are now confirmed:
Alterra Mountain Company will invest $181 million across its 14 North American mountain destinations for the upcoming year, including new high-speed lifts at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows and Winter Park, direct to lift access at Deer Valley Resort, an expansive renovation of the Bobbie Burns lodge at CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures, and an upgrade of Steamboat’s gondola.

Olympic ski legend and Deer Valley’s iconic ambassador Stein Eriksen has died. The Norwegian champion known for his impressive coif, impeccable ski technique and eponymous lodge passed away quietly at his Park City home Sunday, December 27, 2015, surrounded by family. He was 88 years old.

Big air snowboarding and an alpine team event were approved the International Olympic Committee (IOC) this week as new event inclusions for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. Deer Valley has appointed Andrew Fletcher as Solitude Mountain Resort’s new director of food and beverage. Fletcher joined Deer Valley in 1998 as an assistant sous chef at the Silver Lake Lodge.
Tim Wolfgram has been named Solitude Mountain Resort’s new director of snow sports services. Wolfgram is a long-standing ski industry veteran and brings vast knowledge and experience in snow sports operations to the position. Deer Valley recently closed on it’s acquisition of Solitude.
