For those with big lungs, tree-trunk quads and a desire to spend hours on a mountain bike -- or folks who enjoy watching them -- the mountains all across the country are an endurance racer’s heaven.
Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin announced Thursday that the State of Vermont and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have filed similar civil actions alleging investor fraud dating back to 2008 at EB-5 development projects at Jay Peak and Q Burke in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.
The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont’s Q Burke Resort held a groundbreaking ceremony last week to kick off the construction of a 180,000-square foot hotel at the base of the ski area.
Grand plans for Jay Peak, Burke Mountain, Newport and the entire Northeast Kingdom in Vermont may well take another step forward next week as resort and state officials pursue funding in China and Vietnam.
As the crow flies, not much separates major initiatives in the upper reaches of Vermont and New York. Although similar in nature, a massive project in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is already off the ground, while a comparable development in New York’s Adirondack Mountains is being slowed by an environmental lawsuit.
