Mikaela Shiffrin, the teen star of the U.S. Ski team from Eagle-Vail, Colo. delighted hometown fans at the FIS Audi World Cup at Beaver Creek, with a second place finish in the Giant Slalom. It has been Shiffrin’s goal to bring her GS skiing up to her World Championship slalom level and that first podium felt great.

‘Gut Check:’ Swiss Standout Wins Super G at Beaver Creek; Two In A Row

Swiss racer Lara GutLara Gut, the Swiss racer who won Friday’s World Cup downhill on the new Raptor course at Beaver Creek, Colo., repeated the effort in Saturday’s super G in a time of one minute 18.42. The American ladies were back in the pack again with Leanne Smith, Stacey Cook and Julie Mancuso 23rd, 28th and 29th respectively.

Vail Looks To Add 24 Surveillance Cameras Before Hosting Worlds; Cite 'Boston'
