Loon Mountain Resort today announced the installation of an eight-place, high-speed bubble chairlift—the first anywhere in the eastern United States and only the second in North America, for the 2020/21 ski season. The Doppelmayr lift will showcase the manufacturer’s new D-Line technology, making it the most technologically advanced lift ever installed in the East and one that will provide unrivaled speed and comfort for skiers.

Sunday River Resort is installing four new surface lifts in preparation for winter 2019/20. These surface lifts will include three covered conveyor lifts to access the learning terrain on South Ridge, as well as a T-bar on Locke Mountain for alpine race and boardercross training and competitions.
Following the conclusion of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Council Meetings, the 2019-20 competition calendar for all ski and snowboard sports that fall under the jurisdiction of FIS has been announced. For U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the Olympic National Governing Body (NGB) of ski and snowboard sports in America, this means that the following event dates are now confirmed:
Vermont’s Killington Resort and U.S. Ski & Snowboard have announced a two-year agreement to host the Audi FIS Ski World Cup. Killington’s place on the 2019 World Cup calendar has been confirmed by the International Ski Federation (FIS). HomeLight will be the title sponsor for the next World Cup at Killington, which will take place November 30 - December 1, 2019, Thanksgiving weekend.
Aspen Mountain will once again offer skiing and riding as part of continued summer operations this weekend, Jun. 8-9, with 130 acres of terrain on a 58-inch base depth.
Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest mountain resort in Eastern North America, will wrap up the 2018-19 ski and snowboard season on Sunday, June 2 - making it the longest ski and snowboard season in Eastern North America. The last time Killington offered lift-serviced skiing in June was 2017 and in 2002 prior to that.
The 2018-19 ski and snowboard season rolls on at Aspen Mountain. The Colorado resort will reopen this weekend, June 1-2, for the continuation of summer operations with skiing and riding on 130 acres of skiable terrain. The gondola will be open for sightseeing and the Sundeck will offer food and beverage options as well as music on the deck during the day.
Utah ski resorts saw their best season ever in terms of skier days in 2018-19 with a total of 5,125,441 visits. The state also saw one of its best snow years on record, with every ski resort recording above normal amounts of The Greatest Snow on Earth.
Aspen Mountain will open for summer operations Memorial Day Weekend May 25-27 with skiing and riding. In addition to opening 130 acres of skiable terrain, Memorial Day Weekend marks the start of Aspen Mountain’s summer operations with access to sightseeing and food/beverage options at the Sundeck restaurant. There will be a live DJ outside on the deck Saturday and Sunday.
The Amtrak Winter Park Express trains set records for the service, including the most riders ever, in the 2019 season. Amtrak and Winter Park Resort leaders thank guests for choosing Amtrak to avoid traffic and to enjoy new features both aboard the train and at the resort named last year “Best in North America".
