We watch Olympians on TV every four years, but you don’t have to wait that long to rub elbows with skiing stardom. Several mountain resorts around the country offer opportunities to ski with their most prominent athlete ambassadors, and learn the slopes from a pro perspective.

Andrew Weibrecht shows off his Sochi hardware. (Mirror Lake Inn)

Recently retired from ski racing, Olympic silver and bronze medalist Andrew Weibrecht is now available to guide Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa guests down the slopes of Whiteface Mountain. The 1980 Olympic site is where he learned his craft with his two brothers. Now he’ll take you down those same slopes at speeds comfortable for all skiers and on appropriate terrain for their ability levels. “It’s been great getting more involved in the family business over the summer since my retirement,” said Andrew. “I’m excited to explore my home mountain and share my love of skiing with Mirror Lake Inn guests throughout the winter.”

As home to U.S. Ski & Snowboard, many Olympians call Park City home, making Deer Valley a perfect spot for hosting top level athletes who like to share their love of the area with guests. With Deer Valley’s Ski With A Champion program, take to the slopes alongside three-time Olympian Heidi Voelker or one of six other Olympic athletes for a whole or half-day.

Spend a Wednesday with Olympian Wendy Fisher. (Crested Butte)

In Crested Butte, check out Wednesdays With Wendy, a chance to learn from Wendy Fisher, local Olympian and freeskiing expert. The Wednesday sessions alternate between intermediate and advanced groups, or book a private lesson with Fisher for groups up to five. “People often comment that I must be fearless, but I am not. I am faced with a lot of fear and have learned to not let it derail me. Ski with me and find a new level of your fearless," says Fisher.
