Women's Clinics, NASTAR Regionals Set For Minnesota
Female skiers and snowboarders will soon take center stage at three Minnesota resorts. The clinics will get you on course for the rest of the season, and one clinic will host a wine and cheese afterwards.
Welch Village is hosting its second Women’s Ride and Wine this season Saturday, March 5, for those 21 and older. The lesson portion, which runs from 1-4 p.m., will be taught by female snowboard coaches. Afterwards stick around and socialize with like-minded women over wine and cheese. The cost is $70 per person. Space is limited for this popular clinic.
Welch is also hosting the NASTAR Midwest Championship the weekend of Feb. 26-28. The event includes giant slalom races Saturday and Race of Champions and team races Sunday. Participants compete in their age and ability groups. Racers that make the podium will qualify for the NASTAR National Championships. The entry fee is $59 adults and $45 for juniors (20 and younger).
Afton Alps has its second Ski Girls Rock two-day camp March 5-6. The program was designed by Minnesota native and Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn. The two-day lesson program, led by female instructors, focuses on improving skiing and racing skills, building confidence and developing teamwork skills. Available for girls seven and older the cost is $177, which does not include a lift ticket. A two-day lift ticket is $48. Girls who participate are entered for a chance to win a trip to Vail.
Giants Ridge offers Women at the Ridge Alpine Ski Clinic Series, Sundays, Feb. 28, March 6 and 13, from 1-2:30 p.m. Gain confidence and enjoy time on the slopes with other women. For ages 15 and up the cost is $240, which includes lessons, lift tickets (good for the day), equipment and rentals. It’s a great time to improve your skiing and try new equipment.
