The newly renovated Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va., is gearing up to greet winter with a variety of activities.
Their new “Allegheny Springs Winter Wonderland” will debut this November with ice skating and swimming and, come mid-Dec. (weather permitting), downhill skiing. Ice skating will be in half or full-day segments and skates are available to rent. Or take a dip in the heated, spring-fed outdoor pool if your choice is “melted water.”
The ski area offers more than 45 acres, nine trails, 100 percent snowmaking, rental equipment, the Little Penguins day program for kids, and private and group ski and snowboarding instruction. New this year is the Rossignol Experience Center, the first in Virginia.
Two packages are available to visitors this winter: The Family Learn to Ski Package that includes accommodations, daily lift tickets, equipment rentals and group lessons starting at $305 based on two adults and two children. There’s also the Ski Free Package that includes accommodations and lift tickets for two people starting at $209 based on double occupancy. Both packages are valid Dec. 15, 2012 to March 10, 2013 (weather permitting).
