Minnesota's Wild Mountain Opens Front Stage Terrain Park

wild-mountain-opening-day-2020 Wild Mountain is making snow.

Wild Mountain, about an hour northeast of the Twin Cities along the Minnesota/Wisconsin border, has opened the Front Stage terrain park with four to six terrain park features and rope tow uphill access.

“It may not be perfect, but we are excited to get open and be the first Midwest area,” said GM Joe Yasis. “We will decide about staying open on a day-to-day basis, but snowmaking chances look good with nighttime temperatures dipping into the teens this weekend and next week. Check ahead is my best advice."

Lift tickets are $25 and season passes are valid. The ski area reminded visitors that it is early season conditions. There's up to a foot of snow on the trail but may include thin snow cover in spots.Services will be limited during early operating dates. There will be no food and beverage, lessons, or equipment rentals. Ticket sales at exterior ticket windows. Season pass pickup will be available indoors along with bathrooms. Face masks are required at all times and social distancing is expected, and you should expect to change your boots in the parking area.

Winter has escalated quickly. Temperatures dropped into the low 20’s overnight and snowmaking efforts were initially directed at the Front Stage terrain park area. The Twin Cities has also already received natural snow.

Wild has had the distinction of being the first area in the Midwest to open for several years running. They guarantee season pass holders at least 100 days of skiing and riding during the 2020/2021 season. When fully open the ski area offers 26 trails, including the double-black Wall and an easy trail from the top of the Mountain, four terrain parks, and eight lifts including four quads. It has a 300-foot vertical.
