Valentine’s Day In East Means Mountain Weddings, Parade, Music, More

Gunstock, N.H. Celebrates Valentine's Day (gunstock.com)

If you’ve circled Feb. 14 to “spend the day with your sweetie,” here’s a sampling of how East Coast resorts can help you make the most of it.

Whitetail Resort in Pennsylvania will hide 10 red puzzle pieces all over the mountain. Find a piece and claim your gift, including a Whitetail keepsake, two, 8-hour midweek lift tickets, and sweets. A note of caution: Expect most pieces to be found before noon, so get there early to trail search.

New York’s Hunter Mountain is offering a $14 lift ticket for your “honey,” after you buy a full-price $458 pass.

Want to renew your vows or get married? Here’s your chance at Vermont’s Mount Snow Resort. A justice of the peace conducts the ceremony on the Cloud Nine Trail with couples gathered around a giant heart painted on the snow. A reception follows in the Summit Lodge. Take advantage of a two-for-$49 lift ticket offer when purchased online in advance.

Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont turns Valentine’s Day into two days. Just book their Two Day, One Night package: two days of skiing/riding, accommodations for one night, and dinner at Bentley’s Restaurant for two starting at $199 per couple. Add-ons like dog sledding, ice-skating, and spa treatments also are available.

Massachusett’s Wachusett Mountain is offering reduced lift ticket prices and lessons when you dress in red. Their Black Diamond Restaurant will be featuring a special menu to celebrate the occasion.

2-for-1 Prime lift tickets for you and your “sweetheart” are Gunstock’s present to you. They also will have 2-for-1 food and drink specials in the Powder Keg Bar & Grille.

Sugarloaf in Maine’s Carrabassett Valley is offering a Valentine’s weekend beginning Fri. Feb. 13 with a live ‘70s disco show. Be sure to check out the Base Lodge where the Ski Museum of Maine will have an exhibit of photos, memorabilia, and historic equipment since the early 1900s. There also will be a Vintage Ski & Clothing Expo and Parade. Make required reservations (1-800-THE-LOAF) at the on-mountain Bullwinkles cabin that begins with a snow cat ride to the restaurant, followed by a four-course meal.

Saturday night features a live show by funk music act Soulive and Lettuce with tickets at $18 in advance or $22 at the door. Watch the Main Event Sunday, with professional and amateur snowboarders vying to qualify for the Burton US Open. Ski and stay packages are available beginning at $89 per person per night.
