The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association continues on its long-term plan to move its U.S. Alpine Championships to “top resorts” across the country. Sugarloaf, Maine and Sun Valley, Idaho will host the event on alternate years from 2015-2018, starting with Sugarloaf.
Sugarloaf last hosted the event on Narrow Gauge in 2008, while Sun Valley previously hosted 60 years ago in 1951. Each resort has a long-established racing tradition with the strong USSA club programs with the Carrabasset Valley Academy at Sugarloaf and the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.
“Moving the U.S. Alpine Championships around the United State is vital to directly engaging with strong ski racing communities that are instrumental in growing and maintaining a strong developmental pipeline,” said U.S. Ski Team Alpine Director Patrick Riml.
