As you consider pass purchases for the coming Midwest ski season the Indy Pass and the Midwest Gold Card offer you access to several Heartland ski areas.

Although they have nothing currently posted on the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame website in past years the Midwest Gold Card went on sale around mid-May. You have to be a patron of the Hall of Fame, which is an annual fee of $100, to purchase the card. The cost of the card last year ranged from $450 to $600 depending on when you purchased it. They only have so many of the cards available, and in past years they have sold out quickly.

The Midwest Gold Card entitles you to ski every day of the season and last season that was at over 25 of the Midwest's best ski areas. There are no blackout dates. For the person that likes to ski around the Great Lakes and likes to get out a lot, it's hard to beat this deal.

The Indy Pass allows for 94 days of skiing at 47 ski areas throughout the season. The new pass is good for two days of skiing at each resort on the pass. In the Midwest, the pass is good at 15 ski areas. Most are concentrated around the Great Lakes in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Terry Peak in South Dakota. There are 15 ski areas in the west and 17 more in the east that are also included with the pass. With two days at each resort, you could easily set up a couple or more road trips with some of the areas close by each other. Your skiing and riding costs would be taken care of. The pass goes on sale September 1. Last year's price was initially $199. The website doesn't offer a current price for next season's pass.
