Local outfitters provide half day, full day and overnight horseback trips through private ranches or national forest land. Steamboat trail ride

Steamboat’s happy trails offer numerous options if you’re looking for an authentic Colorado ranch experience, with rides ranging from a one-hour tour, an eight-hour ride and fish, a cattle drive, or a dinner ride with a full meal to cap off your adventure.

Bretton Woods trail ride

Headquartered in restored Victorian stables, the Bretton Woods stables at New Hampshire’s Omni Mount Washington Resort offers group and private trail rides for beginner and advanced riders and carriage rides spring through fall. Instruction for all levels is also available. The Barn Buddies hands-on visit lets kids get up close to these gentle giants as they assist the staff with horse care and maintenance, finishing with a pony ride. 

Attitash trail ride

Located just east of Attitash, The Fields of Attitash are home to horseback riding and pony rides. The Stables are open daily through Labor Day. Enjoy the tranquility of riding on the back of a beautiful animal through the surrounding pastures, riverfront and mountains. You'll receive training and get to know your horse before saddling up.

Crystal Mountain trail ride

Boyne Mountain trail ride

Horseback riding at Boyne Mountain is a special way to experience the natural splendor of northern Michigan. Guided trail rides begin at the Boyne Mountain Stable and take riders on an equine adventure through some of the resort's most remote and beautiful terrain. For younger riders, first-timers, and those not quite ready to ride unassisted, "pony" rides are the perfect alternative. The younger rider will be hand led on a full size horse.
