Colorado’s mountain resorts roll out the fun carpet during the summer, especially for families with children. Base areas abound with entertainment for the younger set, while most resorts put kids on the mountain for outdoors activities, like mountain biking and tubing. took a look around Colorado for some of the kids-oriented programs at ski and snowboard resorts:

Activities for youngsters lay out according to age (3+, 4+, 6+ and teens) at Camp Aspen Snowmass. Children ages 3 and up can enroll either for the whole summer or on a day-to-day basis. Six-year-olds can stay overnight. Each day has featured activities. New ropes course has host of other challenges. Campers go on road trips to Glenwood Spring Pool and other area attractions.

Woodward camps at Copper focuses on getting kids more confident with sports. Located at the base of the mountain right off I-70, summer camps for ages 7-17 run weekly in “action sports” – skateboarding, BMX, mountain biking – and cheer, gymnastics and dance. Instruction accommodates all skill levels, and reservations necessary.

Adventure Park at Crested Butte sets up to drop off kids for a day of fun, or for parents to join in as well. Mini-golf, trampolines, arts and crafts, and prospecting among activities for all ages. Tickets can be purchased for all day or a specific activity.

At Steamboat, the kids zone is Land Up, with myriad of things to do at the base – climbing wall, tubing, ropes course, mini-golf -- plus rides on the longest mountain coaster in the Rockies and the resort gondola. Tickets cover all summer, one day or single activities.

Vail puts summer fun under Epic Discovery umbrella. Everything is on the mountain and connected by lifts. There are junior versions of most activities, with mini-tubing, Little Eagle ziplines, nature center and Pine Cone adventure center for the young and young at heart. Buy tickets for a pack of adventures, all-day unlimited or special 3-6 year old pass.

Keystone touts its family atmosphere both winter and summer. Tubing on snow can be had at summit play area, or paddling on water down below. Running daily, overnight or longer, Science School Summer Camp teaches hands-on science through progression of activities and learning stations.
