Summer Concerts Envelope Mountain Resorts With Music

This summer, the hills are alive with the sound of music – pop, rock, jazz and much more – as resorts all over the country crank up the volume.

 Here’s a look at some of the hottest music in mountain resorts this summer:

Stratton Mountain. Judy Collins performs at the base of the mountain on July 23 to benefit breast cancer research. Start of summer-long concert series at the Vermont resort.

Jay Peak
Jay Peak. Third annual three-day Jeezum Crow Festival kicks off July 22-23 in Stateside Amphitheatre with Dark Star Orchestra, Alejandro Escovedo, The Werks, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, Sleepy Man, Aqueous and more.

Gunstock. Soulfest, New England’s largest Christian outdoor festival, runs Aug. 4-6 at the central New Hampshire mountain with 125 artists and speakers.

Mammoth Mountain. Bluesapalooza runs Aug. 4-7 and features Michael Franti, Allen Stone and Jon Batiste & Human for this California mountain feste of blues and beers.

Grand Targhee
Grand Targhee. For 29th year, bluegrass aficionados journey to the Tetons for three days of pickin’ and grinnin’ Aug. 12-14 at the Grand Targhee Bluegrass Festival.

Telluride. Festival-heavy resort welcomes top jazz performers like Jeff Coffin and Jon Cleary Aug. 5-7 to the southwest Colorado mountain town for Telluride Jazz Festival 2016.

Park City
Park City. Band of the year at South-by-Southwest confab Bright Light Social Hour brings neo-psychedelic sound to the Wasatch Mountains of Utah on Aug. 27 as part of summer-long series.

Squaw Valley. Wanderlust Festival comes to the Sierra resort July 14-17 with Stephen “Ragga” Marley and Michael Franti peforming among plethora of healthy-lifestyle activities.

Sundance Resort. Nashville comes to the Utah mountains for a summer-long series, including an Aug. 19 show with singer-songwriters Roxie Dean, Tim Nichols and Walker Hayes.
