Ski areas may be closed in these historic times, but the weather doesn’t stop! Here’s a look at the national snow conditions through April 1.

Western U.S. & Canada

Thursday begins with the Four Corners states of Utah and Colorado getting mountain snow showers. This, along with quite a bit of wind, will continue through Friday. Look for storm totals in the 8-12” range by Friday!

On Friday, the Pacific Northwest begins its several-day-long stretch of wet and snowy weather. This will be focused in British Columbia for most of this forecast period (through April 1) but will spill over into Alberta and Washington State. As much as three feet of snow may fall this week in western Canada’s mountains, while 6-12” will be a good bet for much of the Northwest mountains.

Much of the West will be in a favorably-cool and wet weather pattern. This will mean much of the existing snow will stick on the ground fairly easily. To see if any ski areas plan to reopen, visit the snow reports page for the Rockies, Southwest, Northwest, and Canada.

Eastern U.S. & Canada

Watch Friday for a quick clip of snow for southern Vermont and New Hampshire, as well as northern Massachusetts! This could be a quick, few inches. Otherwise our attention turns to the next incoming storm system Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

This weekend’s storm will be a springtime system, meaning any snow potential will be a heavy, wet variety. But there will be a couple of snow opportunities! Watch parts of Minnesota and northern Wisconsin/Michigan Saturday night for snow potential. Then watch Maine, New Hampshire and parts of Quebec Sunday night for snow potential.

To see if any ski areas plan to reopen, visit the snow reports page for the Midwest, Northeast, and Canada.
