SnoCountry SnoCast: An Extra Day Of Winter This Year
Congratulations! You have received an extra day of winter this year. Take advantage of February 29th because it will be awesome in many areas.
Eastern U.S. & Canada
There will be an ongoing winter storm Thursday morning, February 27th across the Northeast and Canada. Once more, the best fresh powder will be found up north within areas near/around the Canadian border. Snow will reach into northern Pennsylvania, much of New York and the north half of New England. A solid 6-12” of snow will fall by Friday morning. That’s why this week we love Mont Tremblant, Mont Blanc, Sommet Gabriel, Holiday Valley, Okemo, Bretton Woods and Sugarloaf.
Friday and Saturday will be cold and windy with additional snow showers for the Appalachians. It will turn milder Sunday and Monday while generally staying quiet. By Tuesday and Wednesday, another potential storm system will be on the way. At this time, those exact details are still to be determined!
Western U.S. & Canada
This forecast period, through Wednesday the 3rd of March, will begin with partly cloudy and pleasant weather conditions Thursday and Friday. On Friday night, the next storm system will push into British Columbia and the U.S. Pacific Northwest with a modest 3-6” of snow for the bases, 6-12” at the peaks.
Much of the West will become snowier as we flip the calendar into March. The Southwest stands a chance to get in on new snow action on Sunday and Monday with a general 4-8” snowfall but 8-16” at select summits.
Another storm system will move into the Northwest Monday night, setting up for more snowy weather for much of the West that week! Best bets will be Whistler, White Pass, Tamarack and Kirkwood. Return next week for the latest weather outlook!
