SnoCountry's Best Spas: Skiers Need Their 'Me' Time
Many ski resorts across North America have realized the importance of offering spa services to their guests. It’s the epitome of “me” time for women, men, couples and, increasingly, kids. The reasons: time off from skiing or boarding, a way to work off sore muscles or “just 'cause it's there.”
SnoCountry.com has selected a sampling of the best spas at ski resorts across the country. All offer spa packages, so you don’t have to break the bank to be pampered.
Southern Vermont’s Equinox Resort in Manchester Center is just a few miles from Bromley and Stratton. The classic hotel dating to 1769 (even Abe Lincoln was set for a visit, but he went to the theater first) offers guests a 13,000-square-foot, full-service spa. Services include facials and body treatments, massages, indoor heated pool, cardio room and movement room for yoga, pilates and meditation. Treatments often include Vermont products like maple sugar, wildflowers, and mineral clay.
Windham Mountain in New York’s Catskills is the new kid on the massage table with the recent opening of their Alpine Spa. The new ski-in/ski-out facility, adjacent to the resort’s base lodge, has a steam room, sauna, and relaxation lounge overlooking the slopes. Typical spa services include massage, facials, body treatments and yoga studio.
The Crystal Spa at northern Michigan’s Crystal Mountain is an 18,500-square-foot LEED-Certified facility. Take your pick of massages, aromatherapy baths, body wraps, facials, manicures and pedicures. Crystal also offers Youth and Teen services. Or, experience “Crystal Bonding”, a side-by-side mani and pedi for mother and daughter.
Take your choice from among three Jackson Hole, Wyoming spas. The Four Seasons Spa offers 16 treatment rooms and two private spa suites with fireplace and deep soaking tub. The Chill Spa, on the top floor of Hotel Terra, features organic products, body treatments, facials, and an outdoor rooftop hot top with mountain views. The Teton Mountain Lodge Spa offers 10 treatment rooms and a couples’ suite.
The Scandinave Spa has several Canadian ski resort locations: BC’s Whistler Blackcomb, Ontario’s Blue Mountain, and Quebec’s Mont-Tremblant. While their spa services are similar, their locations set them apart from each other.
Spa Whistler sits in a spruce and cedar forest on the edge of Lost Lake. Blue Mountain is located on 25 acres of Ontario birch and has views of the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve Niagara Encampment. Mont Tremblant is located on the shores of the Diable River, minutes from the Tremblant Resort.
