No trip to Pats Peak is complete without a famous M&Ms cookie. Way back when Pats Peak first opened, more 50 years ago, the food service was done by the owners' wives. They decided to make chocolate chip cookies. At first they didn't use the M&Ms, but thought it would be “fun” to add them. They started out big, but they were not that big. People loved them, so they kept getting bigger and bigger and graduated to the size they are today, the size of your face.
Skiers and riders make it a point to stop at Wachusett's first "on-mountain" refreshment location for hot cider doughnuts at The Bullock Lodge Cider House, presented by Red Apple Farm. Bullock Lodge was built in the 1930's as an economic stimulus project by the Civilian Conservation Corps. and served as the original base lodge for the ski area.
It’s worth waiting in line at The Waffel Shak at Sugarbush where you can order your hot waffle plain or coated with choices like chocolate and bacon. For a more refined goodie, find Skinny Pancake crepes filled with Nutella chocolate and topped with whipped cream at The Farmhouse at Lincoln Peak.
No trip to Okemo is complete without an order of Coleman Brook Tavern’s s’mores. Families love to gather ‘round the fireplace in the Jackson Gore Inn for this traditional après sweet. The build-your-own treat arrives with a table-top campfire, skewers and slabs of chocolate, graham crackers and plump marshmallows ready for roasting to a perfect golden brown. On most afternoons, the air in the Jackson Gore Inn lobby is heady with the aroma of caramelized sugar as families gather for this fun and delicious treat.
