Skiing Into April Across Upper Midwest
Early April can be a great time to hit the slopes and enjoy some spring time fever with the longer daylight hours and warmer temperatures. Seven Upper Midwest resorts are staying open into April, and some are offering enticing lift and lodging specials.
Minnesota’s Lutsen Mountains is staying open daily through April 14. Lake Superior’s microclimate creates the perfect springtime conditions with nighttime lows below freezing and daytime highs in the 40s. They guarantee at least 40 runs open, and for 25 straight years they have been able to ski and ride well into the month. April spring break save 50-percent on lift and lodging and free ski rental, and Mountain Meltdown Weekend, April 12-14, two-for-one lift and lodging special and 10 bands appearing on a free outdoor stage make a great weekend of skiing and music.
Another Gopher State resort Giants Ridge is staying open through April 7 with $49 lift tickets, and they are still fully open.
Granite Peak in northern Wisconsin will be celebrating Family Festival Weekend, April 12 -14, offering four two-day tickets for your family. Fireworks will be taking place on Saturday night. Package prices start from $445 for two nights. They are open daily through April 7 and weekends after that.
Big Snow Resort will keep its Indianhead slopes open weekends after April 7 for as long as the snow holds out.
Ski Brule remains open weekends into April and will be celebrating Life’s A Mountain Beach Party the weekend of April 6-7 with events for the whole family. Through the first week of April they are offering a $40 lift and lodging special per night, per person, and Sunday April 7 is $60 Carload Day.
Boyne Mountain has scheduled the Hemlock Open for April 20, depending on the weather. The Mountain will remain open on a daily basis through April 14 and weekends after that as long as the snow holds out. Last season they remained open through the first weekend of May.
Crystal Mountain is offering a spring break package through April 6, with room rates starting from $129, which includes free skiing and riding for the whole family. It is 5-for$50 on Sunday. April 7. Grab five buddies and hit the slopes for $10 each.
