San Francisco Ski & Board Festival
Are you ready for a Bay Area preview of the ski and snowboard season? Then head over to the 5th annual Ski & Board Festival Nov. 2-4, 2012, at Fort Mason Festival Pavilion in San Francisco.

The action kicks off Friday with a screening of Warren Miller’s new film, "Flow State," from 6-9 p.m. Saturday’s activities run from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; wine tasting is 1-6 p.m. Sunday’s times are 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; the brewery expo is noon-5 p.m. General admission is $20; $40 gets you admission, unlimited beer/wine tasting and a commemorative glass, and a two-night stay at the grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno. Get tickets at the door or online.

While you’re at the festival, sign up for SnoCountry.com’s SnoNews and get $5 off your next Liftopia purchase, plus be registered to win a three-day/two-night ski and stay vacation at Crested Butte.

"We’re revolutionizing consumer trade shows to connect skiers and snowboarders with a fun slice of mountain culture in their own backyard," SnowBomb.com’s Jim McAlpine says.

The festival offers free lift tickets, celebrity athlete appearances like Jonny Moseley and Daron Rahvles, discounted gear, season pass deals, and a complimentary subscription to SKI or Transworld Snowboarding magazines. Attendees also are entered to win the grand prize of a free day of heli skiing near Lake Tahoe.

Other events include indoor climbing walls, bounce houses, exhibitions by Pro BMX riders and Rail Jams by local freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Cheer on SnowBomb’s attempt to break the world record for making the world’s largest snow globe.
