Season Drawing To End In Montana; Excellent Late Season Conditions

Whitefish Mt. (Karen Van Seters)

It’s hard to believe the season will be ending in a couple of weeks at many Montana ski areas. The snow is still falling. Enjoy some good late season skiing, riding and affordable lift and lodging packages.

Whitefish Mountain Resort is hosting Winter Brewfest and the annual Dummy Derby, Saturday, March 30. It’s also the last night for Moonlight Dine & Ski. The cost is $49.95 for adults and $24.95 for children under 12. Dine at the Summit House and ski down. The annual Pond Skim takes place Sunday, April 6.

Awards are given for best costume, best crash, and the longest skim. Skiers have won three times and snowboarders three times. Lift and lodging packages, including breakfast, start from $79 per person, per night. End of season special, good March 31-April 7, book two nights lodging and two days skiing/riding and get a third day and night free.

Red Lodge Mountain Resort is hosting a Sunrise Service at the top of Miami Beach at 7:15 a.m., Sunday, March 31. The chairlift opens at 6:30 a.m. An all-day Easter egg hunt follows with prizes, including coupons, gift cards and free lift tickets for next season. A children’s (up to 10 years old) Easter egg hunt takes place at base of Miami Beach at 2:30 p.m. Last day of the season is April 7. Lift and lodging packages in nearby Red Lodge start from $70 per person, per night, based on quad occupancy.

Bridger Bowl will be hosting an Easter Service at 7 a.m. The Powder Park lift starts loading at 6:30 a.m. The Bridger Bowl Film Festival and Dirt Bag Ball, a ski patrol fund raiser with live music, is Saturday, March 30.  Last day of the season is April 7. Lift and lodging packages start from $69 per person, per night.

Montana Snowbowl, also closing on April 7, is hosting a free barbecue the last day. Lift and lodging packages start from $58.50 per person, based on double occupancy. Single rooms start from $80.

Big Sky Resort, which doesn't plan to close until April 15, is hosting Easter Sunrise Service at the top of the Swift Current Chair. Bring your equipment and get first tracks on the way down. Others can download on the chair. The annual Pond Skim is April 13. Live music follows at Whiskey Jacks. Lift and lodging packages starting from $99 per person, based on double occupancy, are available from March 22 through April 9, excluding March 28. A two-night minimum is required and breakfast is included. Tours of nearby Yellowstone National Park are also available, and this is an excellent time of year to tour the park.

Thinking of a late spring western ski trip, SnoCountry Vacations' Deal of the Week offers weekly specials to more than 35 winter western destinations across the U.S. and Canada.
