Romantic Getaway Chioices For Heartland Couples Valentine's Weekend
Valentine’s Day is coming fast and on it’s on a Friday this winter. It’s the perfect time to consider a romantic getaway, and several Midwest resorts are offering enticing choices.
The Homestead, nestled in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which Good Morning America viewers recently voted Most Beautiful Place In America, offers packages for couples that want to get away and ski or snowboard, or, if you prefer to skip the snowsports for more snuggle time, there are packages to cover that as well.
Couples Winter Getaway starts from $108 per person, per night, and includes a massage at Spa Amira, dinner one evening at the resort’s signature restaurant, Nonna’s, and breakfast at CQ’s Cabin each morning. A two-night stay is required. Lift and lodging packages start from $66 per person, per night, based on double occupancy and a two-night stay. Lift tickets can be added separately. The Homestead is open Friday-Sunday for skiing and snowboarding. Live music will be performed on the weekend at the newly designed open-air Beppi’s, which features outdoor seating, gas fireplaces and outdoor heaters.
Petoskey, often called the “Nantucket of the Midwest,” offers Old World Charm and country inns overlooking Lake Michigan’s Little Traverse Bay. It’s almost a little slice of New England.
Stafford’s Bay View Inn, built in 1886 offers a Hit The Slopes package, which starts from $329 on weekends, based on two people in a room. It includes two nights lodging, a country breakfast each morning, and two vouchers for a day’s lift ticket at either Boyne Highlands or Nubs Nub, both nearby. Quality dining, charm and hospitality make this a memorable Valentine’s choice.
Crystal Mountain offers Valentines at the Mountain, which starts with $89 lodging on Thursday, Feb. 13. There are Crystal Spa Specials, Thistle Pub & Grille specials, and Valentine’s Day evening two-for-one $29 lift tickets 5 p.m.-close.
Wisconsin’s Granite Peak and Wausau make a nice romantic combo. The city is draped around the base of Rib Mountain. The ski area illuminates the mountain at night rising above the city. The Jefferson Street Inn, located on the town square, offers a Romantic Getaway that includes a two-night stay in a two-room suite with a in-room whirlpool and fireplace, lift tickets for two days and a couple’s message. The package starts from $615.
Lutsen Resort has been called one of the “grand old resorts” along Lake Superior’s North Shore, and it’s located just across the road from Lutsen Mountains, the Heartland’s largest snowsports resort. Minnesota Monthly magazine calls it “most romantic resort in the state.”
They offer Romance Packages starting from $139 per night on weekends, which includes a two-night stay in one of the resort’s Poplar River cabins with a fireplace, whirlpool and private deck. It also includes champagne in your room, breakfast each morning and dinner in the lakeside lodge dining room. A two-night stay is required. Lutsen offers guests roundtrip free shuttle service to the ski hill, just minutes away. Buy your lift tickets direct online from Lutsen Mountains and save $10 per adult on two-day lift tickets.
