Planned Expansion Would Make Steamboat Second Largest Resort in Colorado
Steamboat Resort is planning a multi-million dollar expansion that includes 650-acres of new terrain, snowmaking improvements, and the longest 8-person gondola to spin in North America. There's also talk of constructing a brand new restaurant at the top of the Sunshine and Sundown chairlifts.
According to the Steamboat Pilot, The U.S. Forest Service recently granted preliminary approval for the proposed expansion and upgrades to Steamboat Resort.
Steamboat Resort, known for its legendary Champagne Powder®, is currently ranked as the state's fifth-largest ski area, but that could change in the coming years. The proposed terrain expansion of 650 acres would make Steamboat the second-largest resort in the state, covering a new 3,616 acres.
