Headquartered in Missouri, Peak Resorts operates 13 ski resorts. The majority of the resorts are located within 100 miles of major metropolitan markets, including New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland and St. Louis, enabling day and overnight drive accessibility. Tim Boyd started the company in 1977 with his Midwest holdings just two years after graduating from the University of Missouri and added in the northeast ski resorts in recent years.
