It will be a “Welcome Home” celebration Saturday, April 6 at Park City Mountain Resort as the community celebrates Ted Ligety’s World Championship gold and World Cup giant slalom crowns. The free event begins at 1 p.m. at the resort plaza.
Ligety returns to his home town after a record-setting winter that saw him garner a historic three gold medals at the 2013 FIS World Ski Championships in Austria and six World Cup wins for a fourth GS title.
The event will feature a skiing parade, video salute to Ligety, an autograph session, and live music.
Ligety grew up racing with the Park City Ski Team and will enter his 10th season with the U.S. Ski Team during year’s Olympic winter.
The program includes a parade of flags down Pay Day run; remarks from U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President Bill Marolt and Park City Mayor Dana Williams; comments from Ligety; autograph signing; and live music featuring Bryon Friedman on PayDay Deck at Legacy Lodge.
