It’s already snowed in the upper Midwest and ski and snowboard shows are taking place in Minneapolis, Chicago and Ontario this month. Winter can’t be far behind. People in this electronic age still love to come to the shows. They can often find some great ticket or vacation deals through the resorts.
The Windy City Ski and Snowboard Show, taking place Oct. 24-26, will be held on the north side of Chicago at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center. Show hours are Friday, 3-10 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-9p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $12 daily. Children 12 and under are free, and parking is free at the convention center for show attendees. Attendees receive lift ticket vouchers to Boyne Mountain and Highlands and Indianhead Mountain with each paid admission.
It includes thousands in daily prize and lift ticket giveaways. You can meet manufacturing reps previewing the new gear for the coming season, and pro skiers and snowboarders will be stopping by. Local Heartland ski areas and top destination resorts from many western states will be on hand to help plan winter vacations and answer questions. A sale with over $2 million in discount merchandise from specialty retailers will also be available.
The seventh annual Minnesota Ski & Snowboard Expo takes place at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., Oct. 17-19. Show hours are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m-9:30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-7p.m. Ski resorts from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan’s UP will be on hand as well as representatives from western resorts. Local retailers and manufacturing reps will be on hand showcasing the latest gear. Show admission and parking are free. The show is being put on this year by the Minnesota Ski Areas Association.
The Toronto Snow Show takes place at the International Centre Hall in Mississauga Oct. 16-19. An adult ticket is $18 and you receive a coupon for a Buy 1 Get 1 Free lift ticket, which you can redeem at participating Ontario resorts. Show hours are Thursday, 3-10 p.m., Friday, noon-10 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
