Northern Michigan’s Golf Season Underway With Early Season Specials

Treetops Golf Course, Boyne area

It’s been one of the longest Midwest winters in history, but spring and northern Michigan’s golf season is underway. Long known as America’s Summer Golf Capital, several of the regions resorts rank among the top 100 golf resorts in the country, and most are offering early season stay and play specials.

Boyne with 11 golf courses scattered among Boyne Mountain, Highlands, and Bay Harbor, which golf scribes have hailed as the “Pebble Beach of the Midwest,” is offering May golf packages that start from $87 per person, per night, based on double occupancy. The packages include overnight accommodations and golf on eight of the premier courses, including the Arthur Hills and Robert Trent Jones Heather courses at Boyne Highlands. A $22 premium charge applies to play both courses rest of the season.

Treetops, with five award winning courses including Robert Trent Jones Signature course, Tom Fazio’s only Michigan course and three Rick Smith courses is offering attractive early season packages. A midweek unlimited golf package, available through May 30, with some restrictions, starts from $129 per person, per night, based on double occupancy. It includes a night’s lodging, breakfast and unlimited golf from arrival to departure. There is a $20 surcharge to play the Signature. Weekend rates start from $139 per person.

Shanty Creek Resort offers four courses including Arnold Palmer’s Legend and Tom Weiskopf’s Cedar River course. Early season stay and play golf packages start from $89 per person, per night, based on double occupancy for the resort’s Summit or Schuss Mountain golf courses. The package includes an overnight stay and a round of golf on the course of your choice. The Player’s Choice package, which includes one day of unlimited golf on any of the resort’s courses, starts from $129 per night. The first round has to be on the Summit or Schuss course.

Unlimited golf packages start from $109 per person, per night, and include unlimited golf from day of arrival through day of departure. Stay three nights with the Unlimited package and get a fourth night free through most of May

The Homestead, overlooking Lake Michigan and the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, offers a one night golf getaway, which includes a round on the resort’s par three course, Mountain Flowers, and 18-holes on Arnold Palmer’s Manitou Passage.
