Northeast Resorts Plan To Be Ready For Winter Thanksgiving Weekend
Mild fall temperatures aside, we know the cold is coming, and with it, Northeast resorts will be firing up the snow guns to get us on the slopes before you know it. Many plan to be open for Thanksgiving to welcome back winter and work off those second helpings. Be sure to check the snow condition reports here at SnoCountry.com.
Burn off some of those turkey day calories at high noon Friday, Nov. 27, and get your legs in shape for a great winter of skiing at Mount Snow’s free annual fun run, the Turkey Hangover Hillclimb. Meet by the Grand Summit Express for a run, walk, or sprint up the mountain. Saturday, view the torchlight parade and fireworks display. The best place to watch the parade down Canyon is between the Clocktower and the Cape House. Immediately after, there will be a holiday photo op with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the base lodge.
Kick-Off Comedy Night happens Friday, Nov. 27 at Wachusett. Work off your Thanksgiving dinner as you work out your abs while laughing aloud to four hilarious local comedians. Make it a complete night by taking a few runs on the mountain before settling in for the fun.
With cold hard cash up for grabs, hungry snowboarders and freeskiers from around New England emerge from hibernation for Cease and Desist, an early season, under-the-lights Saturday night rail jam at Loon. A live DJ will be spinning outdoors to keep the competitors and spectators juiced.
If you’d like to skip Grandma’s house and head straight for the mountains, the Omni Mount Washington Hotel offers a decadent buffet featuring traditional favorites and a ticket to ski for free on Thanksgiving at Bretton Woods. The Bretton Brewskis Homecoming Brew Tasting on Saturday features a large variety of beers including local favorites such as Tuckerman’s, Moat Mountain, Woodstock Station, and Peak Organic. Don't forget to also get tickets for Warren Miller's Chasing Shadows, showings Friday Nov. 27 and Saturday Nov. 28.
