Vermont’s Killington Resort has kicked off its 2015 summer season with a $3.5 million expansion of new summer attractions at the Snowshed Adventure Center. Summer fun is available to a wide range of tastes, from Segway tours to a four-story ropes course to mountainside disc golf.
“To complement our full roster of winter activities, we can now offer guests the same kind of diverse experiences in the summer, all centrally located in the ‘summer energy epicenter’ at Snowshed,” Killington’s Michael Joseph told SnoCountry.com.
The Skye Ropes Course stands four-stories high with 42 obstacles for daredevils, climbers and athletes of all ages to maneuver.
The Terra-Maze is located just below the Skye Ropes Course and offers 5,000 square feet of feet-on-the-ground exploration.
The Skyeride is 600 feet long, 100 feet high and glides at 30 miles per hour. This comfortable mid-air adventure provides cool mountain breezes, side-by-side seating for two and unbeatable views.
Roaring Brook Mining is a kid-friendly adventure, providing a great keepsake for miners of all ages.
Killington's mountainside Disc Golf course starts at the top of Snowshed and meanders its way back down to Snowshed Lodge. Each round includes a one-way ride up the Snowshed Express Quad to get you to the first tee.
Hit the mountain with a Motorized Mountain Tour on a utility task vehicle (UTV) or Segway. Experienced mountain guides show you the way, provide all the required safety gear and include an introduction to your vehicle of choice prior to hitting the trails. Ride with a guide or another member of your party on a UTV, or a Segway for individual use.
The 4,800-foot Beast Mountain Coaster, Killington’s new flagship thrill ride, is under construction and is expected to open to the public by the end of July.
