New Major Ski Resort Proposed for British Columbia Interior
A proposal to build a new ski resort in the BC interior, in an area about a four-hour drive east of Kelowna and seven hours west of Calgary, approximately eight km east of New Denver and 38 km west of Kalso, is in the very early stages of its design and application process.
Earlier this month, the provincial government’s Mountain Resorts Branch of the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations received an expression of interest (EOI) from ski resort design firm Brent Harley and Associates — on behalf of project proponent Valhalla Pure Outfitters’ David Harley — to build Zincton Mountain Village.
The ski resort is eyed for both sides of London Ridge and Whitewater Ridge, a 12,000-acre area — larger than Whistler Blackcomb.
