More Than 153,000 Take Part In Learn To Ski And Snowboard Month

Learn To Ski and Snowboard Month

The January 2013 Learn To Ski and Snowboard Month and Bring A Friend Challenge saw more than 153,000 children and adults register for beginners’ lessons from professional instructors. SnoCountry.com was a proud sponsor.

This season’s turnout marks the largest single-year increase in lesson-takers since the industry-wide initiative began in 2009 with 20,000 participants.

Resorts in 34 states took part in the program. The majority offered discounted beginner lesson packages including lift tickets and rental equipment, generally available the entire month.

“Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month and the Bring a Friend Challenge have enjoyed support from all aspects of the snowsports industry and that is what makes it work well in a cost efficient manner,” said Raylene Davis, Chair of the task force and marketing vice president for Ski Utah.

One participating ski area will be selected for producing the Best Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month Campaign as part of the National Ski Areas Association’s annual marketing awards. The winner will be announced during NSAA’s National Convention and Trade Show April 30-May 3 in Palm Springs, Calif.
