Midwest Well Represented Among Top 25 U.S. Ski/Golf Resorts
Golf Pass, part of NBC Sports, recently released its list of the top 25 best U.S. golf and ski resorts, and the Midwest is well represented with four resorts making the list. Two were among the top four.
According to the article on the Golf Pass website, only 38 of the roughly 800 U.S. golf resorts offer both golf and skiing, with the Heartland offering the most.
Among the top 25 from the Midwest were Giant's Ridge in Minnesota, #25, and Michigan's Crystal Mountain #12. Shanty Creek Resort was #4 and Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands, although two distinct resorts a half-hour apart were considered as one, received the #1 ranking on the list.
“It was a tribute to the vision of our founder, Everett Kircher, who wanted to create a company the could employ year-round using golf and skiing as a catalyst to make that happen,” Boyne USA Senior Vice President of Golf Operations and Resort Sales said of the recognition in a statement.
Boyne Resorts, considered one of the top four golf and ski resorts across North America, also had three of their other properties outside Michigan on the list: Sugar Loaf and Sunday River in Maine, and Big Sky in Montana
Adding to the reputation that northern Michigan has for offering top-quality golf and ski resorts four other Michigan resorts were hovering just below the top 25. Receiving honorable mentions were The Homestead, Treetops, Otsego Club, and Caberfae Peaks.
