Michigan’s Treetops Out Of Chapter 11; Upgrades Coming
Michigan’s Treetops Resort, which filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 last November, has announced that the process is now complete and looking forward to the future, according to General Manager Barry Owens.
“As we’ve seen in the past businesses do emerge from reorganization stronger than ever,” he emphasized. “We are thrilled to complete the process and in a strong position to serve our loyal customers, business partners and employees.”
The year-round resort is one of the larger employers in the northern Michigan county of Otsego that is dependent on tourism.
One of the first things they plan to do is to start systematically renovating and upgrading the property and lodging facilities, according to Owens.
“We’ve cleared the deck and look forward to future renovation and developing new property amenities and upgrading existing facilities,” he added. “We want to offer more Skiable Feast and sleigh ride dinners held at our Project Nature property along the scenic Pigeon River during winter, and continue expanding our newest culinary offering the Adventure Series that features locally grown and prepared fare coupled with an overnight stay.”
The three new dining opportunities were held in limited numbers last winter and proved quite popular with patrons. The new Culinary Adventure Series has dates coming up later this month, September and October.
Treetops is in the middle of a strong summer golf season. The resort features five of the top courses in northern Michigan, which is known as “America’s Summer and Fall Golf Capital.” Packages start from $129 per person, per night for the Ultimate Golf Package and include breakfast, dinner and a round of golf.
Upon learning that the resort had emerged from Chapter 11 Gaylord Chamber of Commerce president Paul Beachnau said, “Treetops Resort is a Midwest destination and an Otsego County showplace that will continue to grow and prosper.”
