Memorial Day Weekend traditionally marks the official beginning of summer, but eight ski resorts across North American are holding out for at least one last weekend of skiing and riding.
If you’re heading out this weekend to make some turns, don’t forget to bring the bikes, hiking shoes and kayaks too! So which resorts are open this weekend? Here is a rundown:
The Legend rolls kicks off the season’s biggest party Sunday with the 15th Annual Festival of the Brewpubs, and live music from Jakarta. Spend the day sampling beer from Summit County breweries and beyond. Featuring live music and outdoor food stations, this is a spring-time party not to be missed!
It’s becoming a tradition for this Colorado mining town to kick off the summer season by re-opening Ajax mountain for one final weekend of skiing. Aspen opens 120 acres of terrain accessed by the Silver Queen Gondola. Don’t forget the bikes too! Independence Pass tops out at 12,095 feet and is now open for the season. Plus numerous mountain bike options are also available throughout the Roaring Fork valley.
The longest season in the East continues this weekend with skiing and snowboarding on Superstar trail. Plus, it’s time to roll out the bikes this weekend as Killington opens the mountain bike park for the season. The Annual Killington Stage Race also rolls into town, bringing with it hundreds of top competitive cyclists from across the country. If you’re looking for a new or used bike, the Beast of a Bike Swap takes place through Sunday.
Live music, ski camps and the Ski/Bike/Golf challenge this weekend at Mammoth. For just $99 you can ski, bike and golf all in one day. In true Mammoth spring fashion the upper mountain is open for skiing and riding through Memorial Day weekend, while the lower mountain bike park trails will be ready to ride and the Sierra Star greens in pristine condition.
Oregon’s Mt. Bachelor grapes up the season with one final weekend and the Brewski Beer Fest and Brewskis Keg Jam, featuring unique features from local breweries. And of course, there will be beer on tap, but only the good stuff - brewed only in Central Oregon. Plus, live music all weekend.
