With an adaption of the old adage, “the family that plays together stays together,” Lutsen Mountains hosts its annual Family Festival the weekend of Feb. 1-3.

Special lodging packages, which start from $125 per person, include two nights lodging, lift tickets and ski rentals. The weekend features a family fun race, snowshoe tours, bonfire and marshmallow roast, and fireworks. Sleigh rides and dog sled tours are also available.

Snow sculptures will be on display at various resorts along the North Shore from Bluefin Bay up to Grand Marais, and a winter art festival exhibit will be on display at the Grand Marais Art Colony.

Ski and stay three nights, from $180 per person based on quad occupancy, over a weekend and get an extra day of skiing and nights lodging free. Spend three nights midweek and get your lift and lodging at half-price.

Lutsen Mountains has close to 100 runs that plunge off four mountain peaks. Arguably, it offers some of the best skiing and riding found around the Great Lakes Region.  Overlooking Lake Superior's north shore, the scenery is truly spectacular, and it has the Heartland’s only gondola. The 90-minute drive from Duluth along the rocky, rugged coastline reminds one of driving along the Maine seacoast near Bar Harbor.
