Loon's Camp III Lodge Renovation Means Better Access, Seating

Loon Camp III Lodge deckNew Hampshire's Loon Mountain's most popular on-mountain dining spot, the rustic Camp III lodge at the base of North Peak, underwent a major renovation this summer. The newly-renovated lodge will feature seating for an additional 50 patrons, more efficient layout, and several new menu items.

The mid-mountain lodge had become so popular that the resort needed to rethink how to best use the space. Now, rather than offering its hearty food choices through a closed horseshoe shape, the open-concept food service area is further recessed, offering both more seating for hungry skiers and riders as well as more user-friendly access to your favorite breakfast, lunch and snack items.

“We’ll have different stations where you can order your food, rather than one line for everything,” Loon’s Greg Kwasnik told SnoCountry.com. “One of my favorites there has always been the jerk chicken chili, but the ch

efs are working on some new items for this winter, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with.”

Built near the site of an old logging camp and named after the third of eight logging camps built on Loon at the turn of the 20th century, Camp III is a log cabin that's famous for its venison stew, bison burgers and daily specials.

Loon’s snowmaking team is currently hard at work and plans to open for the season Wednesday, Nov. 25. “We’re cautiously optimistic that Mother Nature will cooperate and we’re shooting for top to bottom runs on one or two continuous routes,” Kwasnik told us. Camp III should be open shortly as well.
