Long Trail Century RideMore than 500 cyclists of all abilities are expected to participate in the Long Trail Century Ride to benefit Vermont Adaptive ski and sports programs June 22.

The ride’s plus-60 and 20-mile routes will start and end at the Long Trail Brewery in Bridgewater Corners. The routes travel trough Killington, Pittsfield, Stockbridge, Bethel, Woodstock, and Ludlow.

It all starts with Happy Hour Friday from 4-8 at Killington’s Unbrella Bar at the top of Killington Road. Participants will receive race packets and information at the event.

Staff from the Lookout Tavern in Killington will host a BBQ in the field by the brewery following the Saturday morning ride. Sneaky Pete will be cooking chicken, sausage and peppers, pulled pork, hamburgers and hot dogs, and roasted veggies. Duane Carlton will perform in the afternoon.

Adaptive cyclists may ride any route at no cost and there will be adaptive bikes and guides available. All ride participants receive a complimentary midweek ticket voucher to ski or ride at Killington next season.

“We believe sports and recreation provide a physical, mental, and social experience that is immeasurable in promoting self-confidence and independence in an individual,” says Erin Fernandez, Vermont Adaptive Executive Director.

Event sponsors include Long Trail, Killington Resort, Lookout Tavern, Town of Killington, Killington Chamber of Commerce, Mt. Ascutney Hospital & Health Center, FitWerx, World Cup Supply, All-Star Distributing, Atlas Distributing, Bellevance Beverage, Hartford Distributors, Ski Vermont, Casella Waste, and Norampac.
