Lake Placid’s Mirror Lake Inn AAA Four Diamond Streak Continues

The Lake Placid, N.Y. Mirror Lake Inn and Spa kept its streak alive as management was presented with the AAA Four Diamond Award of Excellence for 28 consecutive years.

James Phelps, President and CEO of AAA Northway, presented the award to owners, managers, and staff. Owners Ed and Lisa Weibrecht accepted the honor. The Inn is located in the heart of the site of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games and the famed "Miracle on Ice" hockey game. Skiing and riding is at nearby Whiteface Mountain and at other facilities in the area.

The resort’s The View Restaurant achieved the Four Diamond designation for the fifth year in a row.

Less than five percent of the 31,000 AAA-rated lodges achieve the Four Diamond distinction and only 95 properties hold the Four Diamond honor for more than 25 years, and fewer than three percent of its 28,000 AAA-rated restaurants stand out with Four Diamonds.

“The Mirror Lake Inn has reached a milestone of excellence very few properties have achieved,” continued Phelps. “This is a testament to the owners and all that the staff does for the guests. To achieve and maintain this level of hospitality is a significant accomplishment. It acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the staff.

Outside of New York City, the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa holds this AAA honor longer than any other lodging property in New York State. The Mirror Lake Inn’s streak puts it second in the state only to The Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan. The Inn now stands as the only Lake Placid property offering Four Diamond dining to complement its lodging.
