Kids Clinics At Colorado's 'Local Hills' Popular With Families

Many a Colorado skier or snowboarder first learned to carve it up at one of the smaller mountain resorts around the state. Carrying on this tradition, these “local hills” offer multi-day clinics  for kids who are beyond the beginner stage and want to get better … fast.

Most of these skill-improvement lessons pick up kids about age five, put them in age- and skill-specific groups, and ski or ride like crazy for a number of days in a week. Aside from paying the clinic price, a participant must have a day or season pass, and commit to the time. Here’s a sampling of kids clinics:

Powderhorn. For ages 5-8, Powdercats runs half days on Saturdays and Sundays for three four-week sessions, starting Jan. 4, 2014, for $200.  Freeriders for ages 8-12 has same schedule, for $210 – with pro-rating.
