A sure sign that ski and snowboard season is just around the corner comes when resort promoters, equipment reps and retailers head to big cities across the country for preseason ski and snowboard shows.
No longer are they merely racks of skis, rows of parkas or resort maps. Today’s ski shows include activities for the kids, moving carpets for demos, music, lectures and forums – and much more.
Here’s a listing of the major shows across the U.S. this fall.
New show Mountain Time Expo debuts Oct. 19-21 at Dallas Market Hall.
Upstate skiers and riders get Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase Nov. 2-4 at the Albany (N.Y.) Capital Center.
The Eastern Winter Sports Rep Association runs four shows, starting at New Jersey Convention & Expo Center in Edison, N.J. Nov. 27-29. Others in Pocono Mountains, Penn. (Jan. 7-9 and Feb. 26-28); and at Stratton Mountain Resort, Vt. (Feb 5-7).
Pacific Northwest skiers and snowboarders can check out resorts and equipment at Portland (Ore.) Ski Fever Nov. 2-4 at the Expo Center in downtown Portland.
The granddaddy of Eastern shows – Boston.com Ski & Snowboard Expo -- kicks off in Boston at the Seaport World Trade Center Nov. 8-11.
California skiers and ‘boarders have choice of SkiFest preseasons shows. Nov. 3-4, the show runs at SF Pier 35. A week later (Nov. 10-11), it convenes at Santa Clara Fairgrounds. Then, Nov. 17-8, it opens in Cal Expo Center in Sacremento. Down south, the 55-year-old Ski Dazzle Show runs Nov. 17-20 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The Rocky Mountains premier show – Denver Ski & Snowboard Expo -- fills up Colorado Convention Center on Nov. 16-18.
